TAPPAHANNOCK POLICE INVESTIGATING ARMED ROBBERY

The Tappahannock Police Department is investigating an assault and armed robbery that occurred on January 25, 2016.  At approximately 10:50 p.m., officers responded to an assault complaint at the Dollar Inn on Church Lane.  There officers found a male victim who said that he had been assaulted and robbed by two males who stormed into his room.  The suspects displayed a weapon and demanded money.  The victim fought with the suspects for a few minutes before the assailants fled with electronic items belonging to the victim. 

 

The police department has arrested and charged Shakkita Smith, 33 of Tappahannock and Tirone Veney, 33 of Warsaw.  Smith and Veney have been charged on numerous felonies including conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery, and grand larceny.  Two more suspects are still at large in connection to this case.  Sharita R. Myers, 25 of Tappahannock and Maurice Veney, 26 of Warsaw are wanted on multiple felony charges.  “Our investigation so far shows that this robbery was aided by the females gaining the trust of the victim which allowed the other two suspects to make entry into the hotel room.”, said Chief Jim Ashworth.
